Welcome to Sylva!
For a century-and-a-half, the people of Jackson County have come to downtown Sylva to shop, gather, celebrate and worship.
Because of this, our downtown strikes a chord with many families who have been here for generations. Each week, new people arrive, too, and many of them fall in love with Sylva.
A walk through our streets gives the impression of a strong and growing economy, but also of a place where people invest in much more than a sack of goods. There are four parks, a public pool, a public library, and a post office. There is a community garden and a farmers' market. There are churches and pre-schools. Community theater, concerts and gallery strolls all happen right here. There are parades and fireworks, festivals and marches, and on the hill overlooking downtown, memorials to the many friends and neighbors who have given their lives to protect this town and country.
Obviously, we at the Downtown Sylva Association are taken with the place, and we hope you'll come enjoy it with us.
