We all want to make the perfect burger. However, doing so can be a bit tricky because there are a lot of burger recipes and techniques, and everybody has their own favorite tips. 1. Use a lump of high quality meat with at least 20% fat (80% lean, 20% fat ratio) Just enough pound of meat per bun creates that meaty flavor you would want to taste, and lean meat does not suffice. 2.Chill the meat before forming the patties
Chilling helps the fat from melting and the meat from getting tough. When creating the patty, make sure that your hands are kept cool. You can do this by tossing on your hand the patties until it shapes a disk.
3.Season your beef with salt and pepper only
While others recommend mixing some favorite ingredients in the patties such as your preferred herbs and spices, Worcestershire sauce, etc., it is still better to season it only with salt and pepper in order to avoid losing the real meaty taste of your burger. When mixed with a lot of herbs and other ingredients, it might result in a “meatloaf” rather than a burger patty.
4. Do not over-flip
Do not start flipping the burger patties until the crust has formed; otherwise, it will fall apart and you will not achieve that perfect disk shape for your burgers. Patties could be flipped after three minutes on each side. Remember to flip not more than one time.
5. Create a crater in the middle of your burger patties.
Using your thumb, make a deep depression in the center of each patty. This will keep the burger from puffing up and swelling. Perfect burgers have perfectly shaped patties.
6.Mold your patty slightly wider than the bun
When cooked, the meat’s size will reduce because of the heat. When you are still molding your patties, make them bigger to ensure an even burger-to-bun ratio.

7. Get the right temperature
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends you cook your patties until it reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit (internal temperature). For people who are pregnant, children, or old, it is recommended that they have their patties cooked well-done.
A nice and juicy patty is cooked with an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit (medium-rare to medium) to achieve that pinky shade and juicy state.

8.Toast your buns
Toasting your buns will prevent a soggy mess once you put your juicy patties and other wet toppings like the mayo mix and the ketchup.
